Gorilla knob electrical problem

I have a 71 220d. The gorilla knob will not light the glow plugs and sends power to the starter constantly even when not pulled. Where can I buy a new one?

You need to follow it down the steering column. You will find some rubber parts that link things together. Check around there and you will probably find the part that is amiss.

rubber parts

I repaired the bushing on the motor but that controls the fuel shutoff. There are rubber parts that impact the electrical portion of the gorilla knob?

Sorry, its been a long time since I had my 72. It sounds like you have already explored what I suggested. No specific ideas on the electrical problem.

It may also bear investigation of the switch on the starter. The electrical contacts might have become welded together. They may be able to be flipped over for new contact areas like the old contacts in solinoids are.
