Sunroof Stuck Tight - W126, 300SD

I have a sunroof that needs a little sympathy and a whole lotta fixin!

A friend borrowed the car, so not sure what noises where emitted when this happened. Looks like wind deflector did not go down and a bunch of force was applied to shut the roof. It is now quite stuck, and as you can see from the pics, seems to be jammed unevenly, with a much larger gap on one side than the other. I seems to be completely off a rail on one side, I presume. I can hear a slight noise from the motor in the trunk when trying to open with the switch, but it will not budge. The rear manual crank seems to just slip so it is no help either.

I have been doing a bunch of reading on the forum, but hoping to get some insight on my particular situation. I cannot open it to be able to access the screws to remove it. So I either need to pry the headliner cover off and probably break it or keep trying to coax it open somehow.

Any ideas??

OUCH!
don't you hate it when someone borrows your car and things like this happen?
my sunroof will not budge either, but it's closed. I think the motor has to be removed, and the sunroof cable then gets pulled out and ya go from there. I've not done it myself yet... I'm skeered!

Sometimes the only way to figure things out is to go and poke around. It was fairly easy to pull the headliner off even with the roof 97% closed, then I could see much better what was going on. One side of the sunroof was jammed pretty badly, and I was able to remove enough of the bolts that hold the sunroof to finally get things to unjam abd break free. Luckily, no major damage was done. Once I put things back together, I can open and close door with no problems.

The switch on the dash is quite sticky, and the wind flap is still broken. So you have to use your fingers to hold the flap down when closing the roof. The peices that force the flap down are in bad shape, so will tackle this another day, since for now, I can close it!
