84-84 vacuum help
I just swapped an 85 tranny and engine into my 84 body. everything runs well, but i need vacuum help. and here is why.
the previous owner of my car did the egr removal and i think he left things off that should not have been removed. so, i've never seen a good vacuum set up. i have read up on the diagrams and what to cut out but not everything seems to add up, even with egr bypassed. when i look at the diagram i am not sure what parts are what. for example, the 85 body has a green flying saucer in it and my 84 body never had that. do i need it? what is it called? the only thing i have found in my car is the IP connections, over boost, old egr thing, and the 2 nipples from the vacuum line. but the diagrams have several other things that i cannot find in my car. as usual, any help is welcome. pick work best. i can post picks with what i have for now is that would help you all help me. |

The 85's have a different set up, so in diagrams there will be items there not on your 84, makes life fun!

I understand the line goes down to the modulator from the flying saucer.

There is another switchover valve which temp controlled. The 84 doesnt have that. It is used by that saucer thing. You can simplify your vacuum lines by following the 84 schematics but i dont know how the 85 tranny would work without the transducer. Maybe someone in the forum have tried it. I want to simplify my vacuum lines too.
