Alden screw assembly removed
Need to ask the best & brightest
My 300SD has no Alden screw assembly when i bought the car, It came with a wire tied to the steel fuel injection lines,Initially I didnt that was little more than cosmetic to have the wire there. But moving the position it did lost a lot of power so i just psuh her far away and power restore, now I used a hose clamp so it cannot move back, but power was not it was, anyways i just live with it. Besides having 1 piece missing, there are oil fume coming out, so is kind of messy, I wish to find out what can i do to stop the oil fume coming out. I have a pic of it. Was thinking of taking the top plate off and see whats inside, but one friend says there is the rack living inside, I can mess her up and run like hell when fired up, So I really like to get the opinions of whoever have seen the light. cheers ALDA screw.

Do you mean ALDA? The hole with a wire sticking out of it doesn't look like as ALDA fits on it.

There should be no oil coming from there (the top of the injection pump) If I were you I would look for a replacement pump. If you remove the ALDA there is a rod that comes out of the pump that the ALDA used to work against. It looks like somebody yanked that rod out (a no no) and then realized it and shoved the wire in to replace it.

what year is your SD? can you zoom out a tad with your pic so we can see the entire IP? is OIL actually spewing from the hole with the wire?
I gotta agree, I'd be looking for a used IP to get the system working the way it is supposed to.

Looks like the IP has been in a butchers shop. I doubt there is an easy fix. Cheapest is probably a replacement IP from a junk yard.

I'll just keep driving her till Kingdom come.
Look for a cheap IP in the mean time, I dont want to open her up myself, should I "F" up the rack then she can run full tilt till she dies. Thats not a good option. Thanks for all the replies, for now the German patient is still humming along like a Swiss watch.

Did you by any chance just buy this car? That looks exactly like one that I looked at about a month or so ago. Tinted windows, non original rims, peeling clear coat, spray paint on the passenger side door lock?

Looks like the IP was butchered. Replace the pump.
