W124 Arm Rest-ling

The arm rest on my 87 300D driver's door detached from the door panel. It's just hanging on by the handle. Looks like all the plastic clips that held it in place are broken. Is it possible to just get replacement clips and reattach? Or will I have to search for a whole new door panel?

You can usually find door panels at junkyards or on ebay for around $20.

I've had some luck with gluing clips back together (assuming you have the pieces)

My car also came with some screws holding the armrest to the panel. Hardly noticeable, and works.

yes it can be repaired- factory manual even shows using screws!

Sheet metal screws- I think #8's work. Drill a starter hole. One or two will split, but a screw and washer tighten them up. Map pocket use some longer screws and fender washers.

panel needs to be removed from the car to repair. Clean it well with soap/water/rubbing acohol, and some amonnia while it's apart. It will remove all the dirt.
