Good price. I'm asking a lot more than that for my 79 Sd with 114k on it. Even better if it has an updated servo on it.

If everythin g checks out AND there's NO RUST ANYWHERE - UNDER CARPETING INCLUDED. BUY IT @ $2,500.00!

If anything does not check out - start deducting from the $2,500.00.

If ANY rust is found - RUN LIKE H#LL!!!

Good going! I said $2,500.00 because unless the seller is practicing FIRM selling, he/she has to expect negotiating down a little. It's the American way! FIRM selling alienates most buyers anyway. Even if it was perfect, I would not part with over $2,750.00. Just me.

BTW, I thought, and still do that the late '70s/'80 SDs were the most gorgeous car I'd ever seen that I knew I wanted to own one someday. They listed in the high $20s at the time about $30K. It took a while, but I warmed up to the '81 and up SDs, and bought one in '91. The best car I've ever owned dollar for dollar!

i saw car yesterday afternoon, didnt have camera -sorry.engine has no blowby, runs strong, clean compartment, oil at pan,he uses synthetic and changes at 8k intervals, does not drive it much ,no real records.trans shifts solidly.tires fair, steering fairly tight, bushings in suspensions still have life in them, brakes feel good, did not check pads etc.surface rust underneath front bumper, jack points solid.the bad is front and rear window seals are shrunk and cracked,i dont know what kind of rust underneath, one window motor seems bad, interior perfect, dash no cracks, leather(i think) very good, wood excellent.he wants 2800 as low bid,had vac leak would not shut off-he is getting it fixed, paint needs waxing bad.no ac,sunroof works.

is it expensive to get window seals installed-i cant do that job.car is tight and comfy.seat springs going. it is a good car except for unknown rust under window seals, antennae is aftermarket,no motor attached

Good description of the SD!

I don't know the answers to your two questions, but the car sounds like a BUY to me. Some buyers (especially around here) will not buy a car without records at any price. I'm not in that camp. If one cannot analyse a 30+ year old car by how it drives and it's condition, they should be buying new cars. I say this one's a BUY. You can work around the window seals and A/C issues.

FWIW: my '83 300SD I bought in '91 w/93K miles had no records. I drove it to 305K in the next 8-years - all with NO RECORDS. Some would still be asking the seller where the records are now almost 20 years later, I'm sure. Many are so fixated on records they don't even analyse the car, or how it drives. I sold my SD for full-asking (I mispriced it by a grand) to a guy that could not have cared less if the car had records. Records mean jacksquat to me. But that's just me.

At that money for what you described, your SD is a buy.

yeah records are not as important as to how it feels, this one is good.the old 116s handle real well and have suprising amount of power for such a big car.

I say go for it, too. Mine had bad window seals and I fixed them myself, or at least the rear one. I am still playing with the front one 3 years later (and its been sitting that long ). Great car, really need to think about getting euro bumpers and lights if you buy it.

Windshield seals can be pricey, but if that's the only issue, don't let that stop you.

I'd have to see the rest of it but $2800 is high with no AC. Particularly this week
