Which is why its best to buy from truck stops, high turnover. Getting diesel from the local corner store is going to have high risk of water, especially if they don't have a modern tank monitoring system.

The original clear pre-filters are just as cleanable. Replace it with a good new one and keep the old one to clean up.

The nice thing about the clear one is you can see inside the filter unlike this where you can't.

I just buy a handful of the clear ones when I start to run low, they are cheap and easy to see when they are getting dirty.

How about one of these, which is serviceable?

I tried the glass one in the ongoing battle against organisms in my fuel tank. didn't like it. the style of the fuel inlet made the inlet ports plug up before the screen did. probably ok if you are not having issues - but if you weren't having issues you wouldn't be searching for a serviceable pre-filter. good luck !

That's why you sump your tank as part of every pre flight. And you should always fill the tanks after every flight. Less space for the water to condense. Luckily water sinks in Gasoline.

Those things leak like crazy. And thats still the value of 8 normal filters.

As it does in diesel. Thats why engines with a water problem usually die suddenly when turning, a big gulp of straight water.

Sounds like a prudent move, for an airplane.

Not really practical for a normal car situation tho, who stops by the fuel station at the end of every trip?

As mentioned, water is heavier than diesel too.

while filling up at the end of every trip is not practical, filling up before storing the vehicle for any duration is VERY important. moisture is a killer of fuel tanks, fuel lines, and keeping the tank as full as possible will prevent humidity from accumulating!
