Is it possible to snake something behind the dash?

I have a VDO boost gauge that I want to relocate to right above the center air vents (right next to the instrument cluster) and I was wondering if there was any space in between the dash and windshield to fit the tubing and lighting wires. Otherwise, I'd have to go in through the left front speaker grille and it wouldn't look so good because wires and tubing would be exposed. Thanks for the help.

Happy holidays

Alex

Yes, it's a W123 300D. So I should just try and jam it back there? I tried very feebly and it wouldn't go. Maybe I should try harder? Do I need to pry the seal back there apart? Thanks.

I had an older junkier gauge where you recommended I put it, but I wasn't too satisfied. I thought it was too low and at night, the illumination reflected off the windshield. I want to get the boost gauge higher up, on top of the dash and I was hoping that I could snake the lines up against the inside firewall up behind the dash and above. The lines have already penetrated the firewall through one of the rubber grommets into the passenger compartment. I think what I will do is get the lines up through the speaker hole and mount the gauge right next to the instrument cluster above the air vent. Not quite where I wanted it, but better than were it was before near my right knee. Thanks

I mounted my boost gauge down where the ashtray used to be. I was able to route the tubing behind the dash easily, and lighting was provided from the wires that illuminate the shifter.

Look at my website, and you can see my setup.
