Cool Air in coolant

So I thought I got all the air out of my coolant during the engine swap. I'll proceed to get the rest out via the slow heater-on overflow hose disconnected until coolant comes out front end up hill method. However, I want to know if everything is alright. I assume it is but don't know these motors so as well as gassers.

Temp gauge never made it past 84 or so
Driven about 30 miles total
Bypass hose began to leak so i reclamped it and now is fine
Car still run perfectly well
No more than 1/2 a quart was lost and there is still coolant in the overflow
And let some pressure out of system after last drive. (hose wasn't too tight)

Is everything fine then?

Btw- if i need to replace the bypass hose it's just the hose and no gasket sealant? I ask because there is black gum around the edge but i just assume that is years of the hose taking the heat.

On mine besides the old Bypass Hose being hard and inelastic I had several deep pits corroded in the Aluminum where the Hose made contact.

If you clean the pits out good the can be filled with an Epoxy like JB Weld.

To be sure it would seal on mine I smeared Silicon Sealant over the Aluminum where the hose makes conatact an installed the Hose.

mine is wet when the engine is cold, but after things get warmed up, it dries up. never leaks to where it drips, I have a new hose and the surfaces were clean.

The indy I use sometimes, mentioned to use Permatex gasket sealer if they won`t seal tight. Hasn`t bothered me enough to R&R it.

Permatex makes many types of Gasket Sealers. There is the old school nasty Brown hadrening and non-hardeneing and the also put their name on both the regular Silicon Sealant and the Ultra Silicon Sealant.
There may be others the make.
