in replacing the 2 little hoses from tank on my 79 sd i found one to be bigger diameter than the other.are they both 5/16 /?.it seems the return hose is a bigger diameter is this right?.are they usually sold as seperate items or just get a length of hose and cut.

measure the hard lines by putting a wrench on em. should be 5/16" or 8mm. both the same size. get transmission cooler hose or fuel injection hose. the cheap stuff they sell in bulk is 100% garbage from the day its made. suitable for water or maybe vacuum; useless for fuel or oil of any sort.

The vent hose (10mm 3/8") and return hose (8mm 5/16") are next to each other on the left. The supply hose (8mm 5/16") is alone on the right side of the car.
