Yes - BUT. I would first install the spare pump and see how the engine runs. If it runs great, you know for sure the old pump was bad and the spare pump was good. THEN, install the DV's... if it doesn't run equally well afterwards, you know you goofed up on the DV install. If you've done DV's before and are confident of the procedure (including the 3-stage torquing) you could do it on the bench first, but there isn't much lost by testing the pump first before replacing DV's. Just don't fully install the intake manifold - leave it off, and start the engine with the manifold removed to see how it runs.

I'd probably do DV's on the existing pump first, for grins, since they're so cheap and it takes maybe an hour after the intake is removed. Test it with the intake off, if no change, then swap pumps. Sounds like a great way to spend a weekend, eh!
