300D flywheel worth?
What are 300D manual transmission flywheels worth? Not looking for an exact figure but a ballpark idea. Anybody have an experience buying or selling one? I have the opportunity to possibly buy one for a decent price. I don't really need it, I just don't want to pass it up as i know they are as rare as hens teeth.

I have one in my 300D and it wasn't cheap.
|
Factory price is $500 so anything lower than that is good.
|
I was under the impression that they are no longer available from the factory?
|
They're available. I just bought one last month. If I hadn't I'd have to beat the information out of you as to where this decent-priced one is.
You're not a BIG guy, are ya'? eek... Ken |
Is there a place online to order one or do you have to call them up with a part#? Glad they are available KenB im not much of a fighter lol :P. I will probably end up selling it if i do get it. It comes with a manual drive shaft as well. Now if only i could find a five speed....

got mine from the classic center. any MB dealer parts department can get you one if they care to.
dang it...where were you a month ago?! ken |

I paid $300 for mine, since it was local. they were cheaper on german ebay but the shipping made up more than the difference

I tried my local MB dealer over a year ago and they flat out said they were no longer available, not here nor in Germany.
How can they all of the sudden become available again? |

http://et.mercedes-benz-clubs.com/mbc/welcome?locale=en I believe it is listed as A6170300530 but I know it exists as 617 030 00 05 because I had to repeat it to people so many times. There is also 617 032 00 01 which does exist and I have one in my car. |
Ok i got the parts today. Got a pretty good deal on them. They came out of a 84 4 speed euro that suffered a front end collision. Part # on the flywheel is 6170320001. I am probably going to sell the flywheel and driveshaft so expect an ad in the parts section soon.

For what it's worth, I have heard that the part number stamped into the wheel is not necessarily the specific application's part number but rather a general flywheel raw stock number. I cannot recall what number was stamped on my flywheel and now it's hidden by my transmission.

no worries on the part number, it is obvious when you look at the part. the ring of material on the outside is much larger on the 300D flywheel than the 240D flywheel. you can spot the 300D part from 20ft away I have never had any luck with the classic center, if they even suspect you are trying to modify a US spec car to euro they clam up and stop answering emails and calls. |
