Not a fast car, but with a stickshift it should be fun.
About the same fuel mileage as the '87 2.5 turbo / automatic, a function of a properly designed turbo and tall gears in the later car, you pay a penalty with shorter rear screw and no turbo, ... but mid-upper 30s isn't too shabby for a 3100lb car. Rust hits them in the bottom of the doors, and rockers between the jack point and front wheel, also behind the rear jack point. HVAC can be a problem if the aux-pump seizes, it can toast the CCU pushbutton unit. I believe that the original on in '84 has a fuse, later ones do not. Also the fan switch fails on these. Wiper and blower motors get slow. I don't know about the early 601 heads, early 602 and 603 heads had cracking problems and head-gasket problems, might consult the FSM to see if the 601 was also affected. Certainly look for contaminated coolant and oil. The light ivory paint is about as low-maintenance as it gets, it'll buff nicely.
