no glow light and some bad plugs question, 1987 300TDT

I don't get a pre-glow dash light but my relay is good and power is going to the glow plug harness.

I pulled the plugs and tested them with jumper cables and a battery. 4 work fine and glow hot real fast. 2 are dead.

Will 2 dead plugs out of 6 plugs cause the glow plug dash light not to come on and the car to be hard to start?

I would think 2/3 capacity would still be fine to at least have 4 cylinders fire right up right away.

Yes, and perhaps more GPS are weak (high resistance) or carboned causinng a slow-start on those cylinders.

yeah, the plugs did have a lot of black "soot"? on them. anyway, already got 6 new plugs to install...just curious if I'm still gonna be bangin my head against the wall trying to fix my starting problems. I was hoping for most or all the plugs to be bad, then the problem would be a no-brainer...lol

I had a rash of Bosch plugs going bad, three went in rapid succession. As they went (all in the same week) it got harder to start, to the point where it would barely stay running after releasing the key (with three bad), plus the bad of washing lubrication from the cylinder walls with raw fuel in the dead holes for the first few seconds.

Depends on the timing of the dead ones also I suspect vs the firing order.

Just because there are 6 of them, it doesnt mean there is some sort of built in redundancy.
You can drive a car with 1 flat tire but you would have to be an #### to do so.
The same applies to GP's !!
X2 with Jimmy & mog !!!

got it all back together yesterday. light comes right on like normal and it fires right up. new plugs does the trick. and it was actually easier to put the intake back on than taking it off.
