Smile Bad shocks..??.. Springs??..Both??

Hey Guys,
I wanted to toss out kind of a dumb question.

I got my 98E Diesel a few years ago and the front end is a bit lower than the back end. Its is so low that Ill catch a parking bump and rip off my front air dam if I'm not careful.
About 2 months ago I noticed that I was getting a light "clunking" noise from the front right tire usually at low speed and in a turn or using the brakes.

I pulled off the tire and looked for broken bushings or a loose brake part.. Nothing obvious.

About a month after that I took it in to my tire shop to get my tires rotated and balanced and asked them to drive it.

They did and heard the clunk. They put it up on the lift and couldn’t see any steering or suspension concerns and they said both were very tight so they said it was the shocks and or springs

How do I know if I have bad front shocks or the coils need to be replaced?? Or BOTH??

The shocks are soft but I've never heard of them making noise like that.
What do yall think is the problem?

What questions can I answer to give you a better idea of a solution.

Ill post some pics of the "lowered" front end.

Thanks for any info.
Chris

Do a search here and on the tech forum for "spring perch". There is a known failure on teh 210 cars where the spot-welds fail and the spring perch can pop loose, yours might be on its way. Also, when a coil spring breaks right near the end, it is often hard to see, and won't drop the car much (a different and much less common problem).

Make sure to check your ball joints, too.

Not to ask a dumb question but how do you check and see if the ball joints are worn out?

Smile

Well,

I figured it out..

The "clunking" noise was a worn out Sway bar link bushing.

Ordered them both from AZ ******** for 11.00 each for the whole link with the bushing.

I get all my stuff there.. great prices and FREE SHIPPING over 50 bones
