W126 sway bar and spring question
Does anyone know what are the biggest sway bars available on the W126, I've read that the rear sway bar is available in 17mm but I can't seem to find any info on the fronts. I also remember that Eibach at one time had lowering springs available but not anymore, who else makes lowering springs?

Are you sure you want to replace the front?

If you want to lower the car some you could use a smaller spacer on the top of the springs. Note that lowering the rear affects the camber!
I'd love to have a thicker rear sway bar too, the one on my car now is puny and there's a lot of body roll... -J

I know what you mean, I've done one on my dads 300SDL, not fun by any means. I have to change the front on my 420SEL as it is broken, lucky for me it broke 2 days after getting the 350SDL on the road.

Tortion Bar end repair
There is the tortion bar end repair if the end of the front bar breaks off from rust. look in the but parts tab, then click of special tools. it is listed under suspension.
Not cheap, but easier than replacing the bar on a SD. The rear bar off a Euro 500SEL is a couple MM thicker than a U,S, Spec 500SEL. noted this at PNP one time. Don`t know if the front bar is the same or not. Charlie

I made some custom 18mm rear sway bars for the W123 chassis some time ago because I could not find anything better than OEM.
The only option I was able to find regarding a better sway bar, front or rear, was having them made. I was going to make a rear for my 126, but I had enough demands for the 123 bars that I used the entire bar stock I ordered for those. I even sold the one I made for myself. I want to make a better bar for the front as well at some point. The manufacturing industry is slow now, so you may be able to get a better price having one made these days. |

Didn't someone one time mention something about a limo sway bar? Would this not be bigger?

looking into this myself, will try and look what someone would want to fabricate a custom swaybar, or to mod a w126 swaybar in place,
If the w126 are 17mm or (something, that was mentioned above) it ought to make some difference if they can be made to fit, dont even know what i got today checking EPC for that elusive Lang swaybar, but appears to be the same, got a lang, but not ready to steal parts out of it even if it was better, the car was painted and moved to storage a few months back. 123 326 4565 is listed under both regular w123s tourings aswell as langs. (123.132 for example)

If you change the front and not the back the car will push. If you change the back and not the front it will be loose or tail happy at the limit. I recommend changing both at the same time if you can find what you want. I don't know of any sources any more for sways for benzes. I never could find any when I was autocrossing my 84s...280e euro and 500 sec.

i am looking to swap both, but since i already am building on a touring i already got the thickest in front, and the rear seems like an easy swap. a car prone to drifting doesnt seem like a huge problem either, my current daily is kicked out in every turn possible (when roads are clear ofc) it behaves good, but a bit to much body-roll
