Lighter fuse blew
I might get yelled at for being lazy because I didn't look (it's dark out!)... But my lighter fuse blew. Going on a trip tomorrow and would like to change it before leaving. Are these special fuses or can I pick one up at radioshack?

First thing is to figure out why the fuse blew. If you just replace the fuse (unlikely to get them at Radio Shack but maybe an auto parts store) it could just blow again.

My girlfriend got a new iphone charger. That's what blew it I believe.

Why would a charger blow the fuse? Did it short the lighter socket somehow? An iphone charger shouldn't draw very much current; the lighter socket should be on either an 8 Amp or 15 Amp circuit.

Well I'm not exactly sure. I'll have to troubleshoot today. I'm almost 100% sure it was her new charger. I've been usin my own without a problem but as soon as she uses hers, it blows a fuse.

oh, the autozoo fuses are ok for a temporary fix, but it's best to order fuses from our site here, and get CORRECT copper/tin fuses on ceramic bodies. the plastic ones melt, and the aluminum or copper plated junk from autozoo corrode and fail.
I have an inverter that goes in a cig lighter socket, it works fine in most sockets, but on the MB it blows the fuse. it has a long point instead of the little nub, and I think it tilts and shorts out the MB socket. my solution was to get a socket doubler, the charger works fine in the doubler, and the doubler does not short out the mb socket!

The Mercedes lighter socket also is powered only when the key is "ON," unless you rewire. An additional outlet, fused and wired directly to a point that sees +12V all the time, is a simple, convenient extra to install. That you may buy from Autozoo.

I bought fuses once from Advance auto parts, the packaging had a sticker on it for country of origin. They put a China sticker over the made in USA.
They worked for literally 5 minutes to a half hour before blowing, not even worth them producing them with that kind of garbage quality!
