Uro Engine Mounts for Diesels

Has anyone have any experience, good or bad, with Uro Engine Mounts on Diesels?

What are the preferred brands? (Meyle, Lemfoerder, etc.)

I've been told bad things, but never used them personally.

I went Lemfoerder.

I put them on my 300TD and helped install them on a friend's 300D. Mine are 3 years old and still holding up. The 300D has had them for 1.5 years and they're fine too.

As long as you don't have a fuel leak or a turbo drain leak, they should be fine. The diesel and oil will deteriorate any mount pretty quick.

Original Mercedes mounts would be preferable for a job like that. Lemforder is often the original equipment manufacturer for Mercedes rubber parts, so they are always good. Meyle is essentialy a re-boxer, so it's pot luck as to what will be inside the package that has the Meyle label on the outside. I've seen good and bad. URO is not recommended.

I believe the original MB parts are made by Jurid. Same with flex discs.

Is Uro a re-boxer as well?

I don't know the whole story on URO. When I first started purchasing parts for my car I didn't know anything about the different brands. I did purchase Lemforder flex discs as I had read that they were the best after market ones. Well, with the exception of the Mercedes star, they were identical to what I took out of my low mileage original car.

One of the items I had purchased was a URO driveshaft center support with bearing. I couldn't bring myself to use it as I could see it was absolutely not the same quality as the OE I took out of the car. Not even close. I used all Mercedes parts for the center driveshaft as I wanted to do the job once and have it last another 20 years.

I've learned a lot about Mercedes parts and suppliers during the last 6 months. All parts are definitely not created equal.

I have used other URO Rubber Parts. I am not sure if I used URO Motor Mounts or the Anchor ones.
My Upper Controls Arms are URO and also my Lower Control Arm Bushings. But, that was maybe 1-1/2 years ago with the Engine and Transmission mounts being closer to 2 years ago. So Far So Good.

None of there parts or the packages they come in are marked as to where they are made. The URO website claims they can be made anywhere; so use your best judgment.

I got some Lemfoerder motor mounts today. Guess what - they were made in Turkey. So much for a German brand.

Well, I hope you don't think all original Mercedes parts are only manufactured in Germany. I have plenty of Mercedes parts in original Mercedes boxes. Original Mercedes parts are manufactured in many different countries, not one of which is China, however.

Problem solved. I installed the Lemfoerder motor mounts and the resonance went away. When I removed the right mount, I knew I had found the problem. You could see where the mount had compressed and allowed the motor support arm to rub against the metal shell of the motor mount. The Uro mounts had been in the car for inder 2000 miles.

I'm well aware of the international nature of the auto industry. The best Bosch injector nozzles I ever bought were made in Turkey. Heck, the Surburban I currectly drive was made in Mexico!

I guess the old saying is true, "Life's too short to but cheap motor mounts."
