Buy 3. You will probably shoot one or throw one across the garage...big PITA unless you can get the car up high enough and peer into the black hole of Calcutta. And read this thread if you want to avoid some of the pitfalls (which I DIDN'T until it was too late): Broken Neutral Safety Switch and replacing shifter bushings

The bushings on the inside of the shifter aren't that hard to replace either.
About 20 minutes to clean and R&R the bushings from a spare shifter sitting around. The only bushing that I can't find a replacement for is the ones that go in the pivot point of the spring that provides the side-side tension of the shifter. After cleaning all of the broken bits of plastic out, it doesn't seem to make much difference in the shifter operation. However, the two new shift lever bushings make a HUGH difference in the feel of the shifter. http://img.eautopartscatalog.com/live/W01331642114OES.JPG Being that I have yet to see a good DIY on this, I may have to repeat the process on the shifter I'll be replacing and take good pics.
