Just found out from my friend the former MB mechanic that I just need a differential and drive shaft from a 350SD or SDL.

So Ill need the fenders ,hood, lights ,turn lights, bumpers.I may just get some euro bumpers and euro lights and call it a day.Their was a 560 sec, diesel, conversion for sale near dallas last year ,his son was selling it for him due to his bad health.$2500 .Ive seen a 500sec hood at the local yard last week and just missed out on some euro bumpers .A set of lights would make it complete.I due like the original look of the 300sd ,dont get me wrong ,just like the Sec styling better ,need all the same parts it seems like so why not.

I think putting euro lights and euro bumpers drastically improves the look of any 126.

You could use a euro SEC bumper in place of it and get in bumper fog lights, that would be cool, but hard to find.

I know this thread is about SEC front end on a SD. But seems to have drifted to installing a diesel into a SEC.

ICEFIRE did a 617 swap into a SEC. do a search on his name, or here are a few threads he posted.

Diesel SEC swap begins today.

Diesel SEC UPDATE important info

How to convert a GAS W126 to diesel, the definitive thread hopefully.

Diesel SEC Done (sorta)

Changed Diff in my SDC today

hope this answers a few questions, or fires up the inner desire to jump in and do it.

I would love a SEC with AMG body kit and a later model diesel with a 5 spd manual. I say build what you want, selling price will always be a loss but if you keep it long enough that wont matter anyway

Psh, the whole reason for a SEC is power! A proper euro-tuned 500 or 560 under the hood is all that belongs there! Diesels are just not the same as a 6000rpm hitting V8 gasser.

Different strokes for different folks! Better to convert a shaggy SEC to diesel than part it out, IMHO.

That I would agree with, but taking a good one and turning it to diesel would be a terrible crime.

Ick!

(Friends don't let their friends paint their cars like that!)

That color pattern might work with different colors, though I never think painting that classical grill is good.

Col lonewolf ,thats the idea but not the color scheme of coarse. Its a dark blue 300sd ,with a cream color perfect interior .This week I have staightened out the core support for the new radiator and oil color to reside. The oil lines leak and the motor mounts are shot ,next weeks project. It runs fine ,best $500 Ive ever spent ,the motor has zero blow by and the trannie is a fresh rebuild .Itll be a sweet ride when I have her finished and driving in late nov, just in time for the winter.

A very important piece of info I found out ,the 500sec hood at the yard I measured out for fit gives me the indication that the strikers are closer together than the 300sd model. This means a bit of modifying to the strikers would be needed or weld in the core support with the sec hood. Not so interested in the mod now ,oh well ,euro lights and bumpers will be my focus now.A set of 99 clks would be nice, not to big of tire for price concerns.
