Looking For vacuum Element Diaphrams

Hi guys. I am looking for the diaphrams to rebuild the vacuum elements in my 82 300 D and 84 300SD. Any of the links I have found were no good. Can someone tell me where I can get these? Thanks Tom

George Murphy of the national MB club sells them. You might find his contact info by using the search function (I have it in MS but I'm in MI now). I have used his repair diaphrams and they work, good as new.

Tom! Long time no talk. I just redid mine. The pink ones (double diaphram) are not readily rebuildable however the upper diaphragm is always in like new condition. I just pulled a bunch of the pink ones at the junkyard and rebuilt all the single pods I needed with them. If you need help or someone to provide beer and advice, lmk! Also I will be hitting up pull a part south/east this weekend for a rear ds for my w124 (another manual trans conversion in the works). I have called George before and hes really nice but didnt have the smaller diaphragms I needed.

Hows the car riding? Ever get it to settle in?

You can see from my sig, the lineup has changed. I am a w124 convert.

For all other members seeking same, you cannot satisfactorily rebuild the dual pod diaphragm with the repair kit. The travel of the diaphragm is dramatically affected because the repair diaphragm sits on top of the original.

Only the single pod diaphragms can be properly rebuilt, and I don't have the confidence in the long term durability of those.

Take apart some dual diaphragm ones you will see the upper diaphragm is always like new. $3 sure beats $50, even if you have to take out the dash its like $15 vs $250. I don't believe this to be a false economy. I will let you know how long my replacements hold up.

Given how quick it is to pull a dash once you have learned how to do it, they don't seem so much like false economy to me, either. On the other hand, if they only last two years at a stretch, then that would get old pretty quickly. How old are yours now, anyway?

While we're on the subject of vacuum diaphragms hidden behind the dash, Does anyone know off hand how many are required to do all the hidden dash vacuum elements in an early '77 300D? I have to admit that I apparently never wrote down the number when I had the dash loose. I tried being a cheapskate and repairing a few of mine, but that was a complete waste of time.
