A/C servo bypass?

This is probobly a weird one. My 1980 300cd does not have an a/c compressor. I don't plan on ever putting one on. The a/c servo is leaking. I would really like to bypass the whole a/c setup, get rid of stuff(vacume hoses) I don't need in the engine compartment. Is this possible? I took the servo out and bypassed it with some heater hose. I left the auxiliary pump connected. After starting the car I noticed that the temp went up to about 100, however, the engine did not feel hot at all. Also, the defrost was blowing cold and the engine would not shut off. I hooked everything back up the way it was. I know the car not shutting of was vacume related. But what about the cold defrost and the high temp reading on my dash gauge? Was the auxiliary pump not working? Is it possible to bypass the a/c stuff? What I want is a warm heater/defroster and normal operating temperature. Please help. thanks, andy
