1978-79 300sd 125hp conversion

Someone should do a swap thread for the first turbo deezls using a JY 123 cam and towers to get the extra 18 hp the early cars did not have.

Not a bad ideal. I also wonder how the 616 four bangers increased the power when they did. Six or so more horsepower should seem signifigant on them.

Should still be a lot of later shot engines around with good cams, towers and rockers for few dollars. Just do not get the rockers out of proper sequence. They have to go back in where they originally where on the donar engine.

Didn't the early 116's have cam problems which caused a recall? Were the newer cams installed on the recalls?

Mercedes having soft cams at one end goes back a long time. It seems the issue was finally dealt with before or around 1980. Otherwise there would be postings every other day on site.

I thought the difference was attributed to a revised system of engine measurement. Could be wrong though.
