where is the temp sensor on 87 300D?

I pulled tbe crossover tube and the first three injector lines and pulled the wire off the sender down by the gp's no go. is that the right sender?

oops, yeah. I'm trying to get the engine temp gauge in the cluster to readout engine temp.
no luck so far. I'm trying to get the cluster out (DAAAAAAAAAM the 123 cluster sure is easier by comparison!)
anybody got any tips for removing the cluster in the 87 D?

Yes, pull.

It's easier with the M-B tools, but they're basically rods with hooks on the ends, and Tee-handles. Once there's clearance for your arm (if you have average size wrists), reach in and un-screw the speedo cable.

The catches are (iirc) around the middle of the 45* corners.
