sigh ATF does not contain friction modifiers, it doesn't contain anything except hydraulic oil, detergent, and anti foam (surfactant) In the transmission the detergent serves to carry all swarf and particulate matter and sludge to the filter, where it belongs. It does not have friction modifiers, a diesel fuel injection pump IS a hydraulic pump, that is EXACTLY what it is, it differs from "regular" hydraulic pumps only in that output is metered. Dexron V and later are, to be fair, slightly different, but with this forum full of people too cheap to buy a OEM oil filter twice a year, I can't see anyone ever buying a synthetic based ATF. The irony of you asking for FACTS and decrying old wives tales, while spouting a load of nonsense theories.... |

it won't help it either. it's not as thin as diesel. mix it 50/50 with acetone and you'll get basically the same as marvel mystery oil. but straight aft is not a good thing.

I don't remember if I stated that I used old mineral ATF, dexton II from Granville...
Thank you W124 E300D for the clarification. I think, again, that the bother was I had some crud in the pump that has been moved/ displaced. Cheers. Olivier

to get what? A 205 peugeot that will cost me an arm and a leg on petrol. No thanks.
I am happy with the E. It does what its build for very well, even when its poorly. I also put too much effort and money ( no wonder why I am broke, LOL) on this car to let it go for nothing, they are not worth much in the UK, to thirsty, to rusty, tax are very high and all the tralala .

tell us about this flat plate heat exchanger, and where you have it plumbed.
I once encountered a guy driving a 6.5 chevy with one of those on there, and he had it rigged up AFTER the fuel filter. Well, he blew 2 injection pumps in a row, like weeks apart, and it turned out that there was quite a bit of assembly shavings and metal bits left over in the heat exchanger. He found lots of brass grit and shavings in his injection pump. If you have the heat exchanger plumbed after your fuel filters, whatevers in there can be dumped in the injection pump easily.

W124,
I think the OP may be another one of "those" that you find on the WVO hippie forums. I have given him some appropriate advice. He chose to belittle others comments. Best let him be. They need to get a smiley on here of an ostrich with its head buried in the sand.

When you had the lift pump off, did you try & manually pump diesel through it?
Did yo test the 2 valves to make sure they did not leak? Do you have a booster pump to take care of the extra pressure losses from the WVO? Best you go visit some one like W124 or Alistair. They are in your country, let them see what sort of a mess you have. Lack of funds is no reason not to do what is needed. Best you take public transport until you have the funds to do what is needed.

Answer
Lack of power/shuddering.
On the E300 the most common issues are: * Bad fuel pre-filter/O-ring. * Bad E300 Turbo Diesel Plastic injection pump lines, OM606.962 * Bad/leaking shutoff valve. = air leaks into the fuel system.. The other suggestion in your case (using WVO) is a plugged fuel tank strainer/screen. .

Very strange that Valvoline believes there are friction modifiers in their ATF and our "experts" here are sure Valvoline is wrong. http://www.valvoline.com/products/brands/maxlife/automatic-transmission-fluid/37
you would really think a company like Valvoline would get their FACTS straight and stop spreading old wives tales like friction modifiers in their ATF. Don
