Is there a radial measurment on axle wear?

OK. the axles I'm pulling out of my cars to sell, I want to know if there is anything I can measure to be sure I don't sell any worn axles.

I am only booting the untorn axles. if the boot is torn, or has been rebooted before, I am not selling it. If when I open up the boot, there is not clean oil inside, I'm not rebooting it. I am rebooting the axles that have cracked rubber original MB boots on them ONLY.

so far all the axles I've opened up have had 0 slop. I've compared it to the slop I had in my torn and driven hard 82 axles that were making a little noise but no clunks. there was about .020 slop enough to feel. none of the axles I am rebooting have any hand detectable play.

NOW TAKING ORDERS!!!

FS Rebooted OE pulled, axles.

John,
As long as there is no signs of metal in the lube in the joints when you take the boots off, they should be good.
If they are still tight all the better.
I have heard of new balls being put in them to tighten them.
Having seen some noisy ones ( not MB), I found that I could feel the ware on the surfaces where the balls sit. It was as if they had been rubbing in the 1 spot for a long time, the ware spot was easily felt.
Swapping sides does make a difference. You may wish to recommend what side they are put on if you know what side they came off.
New boots & they will probably outlast a couple of the Chinese ones!!!!!
