Do My Cars (1991 and 1992 300D) Have Block Heaters?

If my cars have blocker heaters, I might go to effort to figure out how to install the cords. But I don't know if they do. Did some, all, or none of 1990-1993 300D 2.5T come with block heaters?

If it provides a clue, when they were new they were sold in PA and NJ.

Thanks.

I notice there's a "block heater kit" available for my car for $45. Looks like the cord and also some gold connecter that screws into something.

look on the passenger side of the engine for a 3 pronged reciever. it may be under a cap but if it's installed it should be there. if not there should be a plug you can screw off and install one

Thumbs up

60x series have the element factory installed... thank the maker! You just need to cruise down to the dealer and score the cord.

You want the one that threads on. PN starts with 201 I do believe.

So the gold screw-in thing in the pic of the "block heater kit"....I already have that, right? It looks like, if I buy only the cord, it ends with a two-prong red female connector.

Also, can anyone help me find the connection? Exactly where is it on the block?

Here you go:
http://www.w124performance.com/service/Index/Resources/20.1_124_block_heater.pdf

The directions show how to install the whole think. The heater thing should all ready be there. You'll just have to install the power cable. But there are illustrations where it is.

You will be looking for a black plastic cap, or at least that's what mine had on it. It is located on the passenger side of the engine and is somewhat hidden. I think it is easier to see from under the car. The heater is threaded and is a male part. You want the cord that has a a female thread ring on it. There are 2 different cords, one with it and one without it. If you do a search I have posted pictures in a previous thread.

This write up shows the cord without the ring.

This one has the ring.

The block heater cord in the fastlane photo is not the correct one, you want the one with the round connector and the aluminium screw-on ring to seal it properly. If you want the one in the photo, I have a new one in a bag that came when I ordered one, ... was supposed to be OE.

The correct one is available from Detroit Diesel dealers I believe, is where I've bought the last two, and probably Mercedes-Benz.
