Changed my front shocks today for the first time!

I've had these Sach's front shocks setting around since last spring, so I put them on today. Wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. the inner bottom bolt was a little harder, but the old 12 point type that was on there made it easier to get them off than a hex head would have been. The old bottom connection plates had a little more room than the new shocks had, and the new shocks came with larger hex head bolts. After fighting the new inner bolt for about 2 minutes, I compared the old ones for size, and used them again. A hell of a lot easier (to me) to use a mini 12 point closed end wrench than fight a larger, fat open end for the hex. Took and hour and 20 minutes, including dragging all my tools out to the curb, hooking up my radio and drop light, and getting it up on the stands and down. It seems like it is riding smoother, even though my old ones weren't REAL bad. Worst part of the whole job was putting everything back up. I'll never own a house without a garage again!!

I think shocks (struts) can wear most in the "little" motion range, for small movements but still seem fine for the large movements (corner bouncing the car). That is where they spend most of their time. New struts regain damping over all types of movement, for the whole range.

I notice my mono-wiper inertia is enough to rock the car a bit on the front end, sitting a stop light. I'm pretty sure new struts will put an end to that.
