You guy have spoiled me...

After seeing a '83 300TD in the mall parking lot, and running into it's owner, and then checking out a 300D on cragislist, It's safe to say I've been spoiled by everybody on this site. I for some odd reason thought that all Benz Diesel owners are like people on this site - loving the cars they drive, loving to talk about the cars with other owners and ESPECIALLY knowing what service needs to be done and when. Turns out I'm wrong.

So thank you very much... for wishing I had a better job to give me the money to rescue these cars from their downward spirals and put them into better hands.

A lot of 'em are oblivious to anything except for perhaps the prestige, reliability, and mpg their car delivers.

yeah i've noticed that too. i complimented the driver of a beautiful 300D one time, he replied "yeah wanna race?!"

i suggested that the boy go buy a honda civic and walked away. a couple months later and that same car was in the junkyard, took a telephone dead center. pushed the engine a couple inches into the firewall.. i wish i had taken a pic.

You never know what he was responding to with a comment like that?? Some clown with a slowpoke old MB diesel called my '99 300 ETD 'ugly' so I told him anytime he wants to race his turd - just let me know. Shut him up pretty quick. I get a chuckle out of a dumb DB like that though. lol

I've had a mixed bag when it comes to diesel drivers. I'd say most people driving a diesel, thats not a truck, know they have something special. but some are just clueless. I'd say the ratio of nice knowledgeable people is over 50%. My roommate had to sell his car some years back, so he drove one of my cars. I have 3, but he liked driving the benz lol. He delivered pizza in one of the richest suburbs in Sacramento. he said he would get stopped at the gas station, or on a delivery by old guys who owned European cars. he came to me asking all kinds of questions about the car so he could tell these old guys. I love it that our cars get positive attention.
