trading my w123 for a w124

I'm thinking about trading my w123 300D for a w124 300D, if I can find the right car. How realistic is this? It seems like the w124s that are in good condition are a little harder to find.

Am I being realistic? Any forum members done such a thing?

The 123 is nicer to look at, more classic, the 124 is nicer to drive. Which do you want? The 124 sedan is also much better protected from body rust.

I've never owned a 124, so it's hard to say. I really like my 123 but wouldn't mind something different. The way I see it, if I don't like the 124, I can always sell it or trade it for something else.

Sell W123.
Buy W124.

Trading usually entails somebody wanting to "unload" something anyway.....

You're probably right. I don't want to trade my car for someones problems. The idea sounded to easy.

I've traded cars before, I've always gotten the better end of the trade.
not that I'm a shyster or anything, it's just that I value things I get more than things I am unloading... I mean selling.
anybody wanna buy a 240D??

A neighbor in Virginia Beach recently had his 240D stolen, then torched. He would like to find a replacment.
If you're serious about selling yours, PM me.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I've driven both 123 and 124 cars a LOT. For me it's as simple as this:

The 123 is more simple and easier to work on and the 124 is better in the drivers seat.

My $0.02,

A properly sorted W123 is a fun car to drive....tough call between W123/W124 for me. I do like our W124 though.

I prefer the W126 to both, as it is fun AND super comfortable on long trips. The W123/W124 cannot compare in the long trip category.

Interesting that you should say that Larry. My W124 is more fun to drive but on long trips, I regularly do 600miles+ journeys, only stopping to refuel, the w123 is my choice every time. Its like comparing an office chair with a lounge chair.

... um, I kinda like that one. and I've never put it on the road.
it needs a cam, or a head, or an entire motor. I'll keep looking for one.
I've satiated my manual MB Diesel desire for the moment with my newly acquired euro 300D 4 speed.
