1985 300SD Instrument cluster
Finally gave the Benz a rest and decided to replace the worn gears in the Odometer (pop the cluster through the speaker) and decided to replace several light bulbs. Now the temp gauge is max out, the oil pressure is not indicating pass 1, it would at 3 before, the tach will not go pass 2 and when I accelerate from a dead stop the glow plug light and seat belt will light up then will turn off.
What did I do wrong? The connectors on the back are straight forward and really can't mix them up. Also, I was not successful in replace all the light bulb, the bulb seems to be solder to the terminal instead of plug in type except for the three big ones. Do you have to replace the entire recepticle to replace bulbs? Did I mess up this simple fix? |

hmm. I didn't have much issues with my odo repair on my customer's 85, so I'm not sure what you could have done wrong...
take it back apart and see what looks out of place. it sounds like you reversed a socket or left out a screw or something... I'm pretty sure, the 85 cluster is very similar to the older 126's I can look over some of the clusters I have on the bench tomorrow...
