'87 300d transmission downshifts
My 1987 300d is a great car, except that recently it has been downshifting way to much after I drive it for a long time.
After a couple hours of driving it goes into first or second gear, and does not want to upshift. What can I do about this? |

Your transmission is aging, and needs a filter change. Look for friction material in the pan and on top of the filter when you change it.

Update:
I replaced the transmission filter and the transmission instantly started behaving properly. I have been driving it for 6 months and it has been working great. |
