W211 diesel

I'm thinking about a W211 diesel purchase in the next few years. How does the new OM642 compare to the OM648? I'm leaning towards a E320 Bluetec for the 7 speed transmission and later W211 refinements. I understand that there is no Add Blue system in the W211 Bluetec models? How well can we expect these new emission technologies to hold up over time?

Poorly by comparison to the old fashioned designs, but probably no WORSE than all the cheap plastic construction and computer modules found in every new car out there, no exceptions.

If you're already in the new car market, then adblue probably isn't any MORE of a risk than all the other new-car stuff from every other manufacturer and engine type out there. None of them are as good as the stuff from the good old days, but adblue isn't any worse than the rest. At least, not as near as I can tell. Of course it's too soon to know about it and a lot of other things as well.
