Idler pulley bolt

Afternoon,

Within about 4 years I have had to replace the acc. belt adjuster. When you put the pulley on with the pulley bolt there is not very much left to screw in the belt adjuster, and it is aluminum, so you can't get it real tight - really there is not enough bolt to get it real tight. I thought the after market bolts were not as long as they should be. So, I got a mercedes pulley bolt this morning and tried it. It just will not hold. It looks like the aluminum just won't hold. Anybody know if anyone sells an acc adjuster that has something other than aluminum? O yes, Febi was the brand I've put on. I had to (both times) grind the bottom of the adjuster so it would clear the wheel the belt goes over. Thanks for your time.

Hugh Sr

All the bodies are aluminum for the tensioner.

It sounds like it may be time to replace the entire tensioner, in your case.
