Drunk in Stuttgart? Brake booster line assembled backwards.

I bought a new Brake Booster Vacuum line, and its is backwards from the original! Where it says motor with arrow it points towards the brakes booster!

The original parts of course is all the same accept the check valve is pointing towards the motor as it should.

The real kicker is that there is a rubber grommet on it that mounts to a holder right near the injection pump. So obviously it's only supposed to be installed one way.

I tried calling MBUSA customer service line, they were patronizing and insulting. The supervisor just wanted to play devils advocate and use semantics to say I never bought it from them. He really really irritated me to the point of me using some choice adjectives and hung up.

Seriously though defective parts and insulting customer service, they really have gone totally down the tubes! In my area alone the Dealers all have 3 star google reviews, most of them are 1 star balanced out by 5 star reviews. I almost wonder if the local dealers make up fake ratings to make themselves look better?

But when you got a car company who can't even make a new brake booster line right, you got serious problems! Let's just say, I have lost all interest in ever acquiring a Daimler Chrysler.

Did you buy the vac line from the dealer? if so take it back to the parts guy. give them your Vin# and have them lookit up.

Sometimes things get screwed up in production no mater who the manufacture is.

it really isn`t Daimler-Chrysler now days. Chrysler got the boot.
Might have been built by Chrysler.

Got it online from someone who ordered it thru the dealer, with a wholesale account.

I looked up the part via my VIN already thru EPC, its the right part they just put the check valve on backwards!

Even Daimler-Benz has been forced into cost-cutting; I suspect they're subcontracting parts to other parts of the world. Looks like the QA people messed up.

I feel your pain about dealing with the dealers. As stated above, you may have bought the part from MB. But, more than likely the part was built or at least assembled in China, India or some other place other than the land of Bratwurst and Kraut.

My last experience with a dealer was not pleasant. Specifically the Road Side assistance (which I would never use again). They damaged the door frame, paint and door seal trying to open the car after my wife locked the key in the trunk. Long story...

My dealer is pleasant to deal with, but their prices on things have become ridiculous.

I changed the electric suspension pump on a w220 the other day in the shop. The pump we got had a a major air line installed backwards. It looked like you'd have to want to install it that way to actually make a mistake like that. Made in India for your w220 S crap

The local dealers have 2.5 / 3 star google reviews and equally poor yelp reviews.

My problem is this, sure cost cutting is fine. But if your delivering defective merchandise especially on something critical like a brake booster line, why does the end user have to pay the cost?

Wish I could just buy the check valve individually and make the hose myself, the right way.

Not sure if they use glue or a heat gun to get the vacuum hose on?
