first oil change in my 87 TD Mobil1

OK, not exactly my first change, but first change after driving the car!
anyway, put 7K on the clock, and decided it was time. not one drop had leaked since I did my initial change when I purchased the car in may... I put rotella syn 5w40 then.
today, I pulled the center shaft, checked the o-rings, still soft. left them alone.
changed the lid o-ring and put on the new copper washer the shaft calls for. drained the oil, and put the new copper washer on the drain plug. filled it up with my new 20.00 / gallon mobil1 5w40TD&T oil, and filled to the bottom of the red upper mark. and let it idle. pressure sits a hair higher than it used to, and the lifters are a tad quieter. I'm going to swap filters in 1500 miles, and see how long the oil stays clear.

granted, my 601 does not have an oil cooler or a turbo, but with new rings, the oil has stayed clear for over 1k miles.

Mine love it. But since I've never run dino oil or even a group III syn in anything since The Beatles, ... I don't know how to compare them.

I have to admit that I don't even open the hood for at least 2,000 miles after an oil change, wouldn't know. I should probably be wearing my "flame suit" shouldn't I?

Yes! 2000 miles? I check my engine compartment every week! Nothing ever is wrong, but I do like looking at it.

heh, I did drive 25 miles home after the oil change, so it's likely dark by now. but I am just so amazed by this engine. if it's still clear in the morning I'll take some pics and post them here. M1 is great oil. and I've got a ton of the wix filters for this car.
