Vac. Pump I.D.
I am cleaning the oil from the vacuum lines (failed Fuel Shut-Off Valve) in my 79 SD. I don't know whether I have a piston or diaphram vac. pump. Can someone give me a clue as to how to I.D. the pump? Many thanks and happy 02!

They go by engine number, up to and from. Yours should be starting with 617 950 (12 or 10 depending on auto or standard) and the last six numbers is what counts. There is a metal plate usually below the manifold with the engine number stamped on it. If you can not find it and are looking for the repair kits I have a picture of the two different pumps I could fax you if you give me your fax number.
