I think that might be one of the worst smashed w123's I've seen... I'm still amazed that the guy could get up and run away. He must not have even braked before he it it.. wow... I didn't even notice the marks on the lawn... crazy..

Oh my, that is really bad. Looks like part of the roof/pillars were also in contact with the offending vehicle.

Yep, the doors won't align on that one!

The one I saw at the yard was worse though!

Holy cow!

Again proving any jack ass can get a drivers license.

Sad to see a W123 bite the dust. Love the black out treatment. More pics before retard encounter?

With the levels of alcohol abuse inside the country and the invasion from outside the country, you'd be a fool not to carry uninsured/under-insured coverage on your auto policy.

You can't afford not to in Texas.

My sister's father in law is a very high-ranking police officer in a panhandle college town. He was only one promotion from Chief. While out riding his recumbent bike, just outside of town, a drunk "undocumented worker" was coming home from a few birthday drinks at the bar of the Ramada Inn he worked at. Struck him from behind then fled the scene.

Least to say, every law enforcement agency in west Texas was looking for this POS. He turned himself in to a small police station way outside of town. When all of the court mess was over, he walked away with a bus ticket back to Mexico. My sister's FIL? He is recovering but is basically relegated to a desk job. Far from the active peace officer duties he used to excel at. Hopefully he continues to train younger men and women coming up in the ranks.

Drunk drivers need to be caned, just like they do in Asian countries. Steamed, f'ing cane.

anybody have any advice on how to get the maximum $ from his insurance company. I don't know any tactics for extracting the best $ from your own policy. hard to battle when it's your policy.
I imagine the same tactics apply to battling any insurance company for $ : documentation, like car sales, nada etc.
after seeing the pics, I just don't think it's worth trying to get the engine or the transmission out of the car, and unless he had an awesome interior, I'd recommend he let them haul that disaster away... he's already gotten a replacement car, he's just getting parts from me to duplicate the way he likes his car. wants a manual tranny, and the euro bumpers.

that's another point, the car is not US spec, will that have any affect on the insurance claim?

If he ran...how do we know he was drunk?

I bet the passenger compartment is still pristine. Meaning that everyone that could have been in the TD survived.
