check in the "General Info" forum.

there is thread on the 60x seals and I am quite certain you can use those or at least run the numbers as a search to find the answer.

I think I have the procedure down and I have the splined socket coming but i wasn't sure if the seals were the same as the 60x. The dealer in Seattle wants $4.40 ea, PN 0000781759 for the copper seals and $7.61 ea PN 00079973448 for the "O" rings and I'm not sure the parts guy realized I was talking "Euro" "M" pump but maybe, as you suggest, they are the same part number, I cant find any posts to verify this one way or the other.

BTW nice info on the spring stretching.

That sounds really expensive. I think the dealer might be cheaper.

OM617. use the same parts I believe:

I found the part numbers at this Russian site (thanks Roy) http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cats/m.mycat?cat=mb&client=dr2000, which are 017 997 4148 for "O" rings and 001 997 3440 for the copper sealing rings. I called the dealer in Seattle and they get $1.90 ea for the "O" rings and $4.40ea for the copper ones. Seems kind of steep plus shipping They work for the "85" 616 & 617 Euro IPs now all I gota do is find them at a decent price

It would be nice if those part numbers translated over to the same MB numbers that I have, more investigation is required

A pump 'service-kit' will contain all the seals.....

Prolly cheaper than the prices thats been quoted. You'll have to try a Diesel Injection Suppliers, --not a diesel-shop--the guys who Supply diesel-shops....

Use the Pump Part-Number--summit like PES 5M 55C RS 320 168--or whatever, and ask for seal service-kit, It'll contain ALL the case and governor seals, the 'O' rings and copper-washers.
--I get all mine from UK Co. called, Help-Today or Merlin Diesel, Complete seal kit usually is only about 12-15 quid....

Do you know the size of the o-rings and crush washers? Crush washers are measured by their i.d. I bet it's one of these:

8 mm
10 mm
12 mm

Does anyone know what the difference between copper vs aluminum crush washers? On my 83 300DT fuel system, it seems all of the crush washers are aluminum except the one on the lift pump mount and the one under the 14 mm bolt of the fuel pressure relief valve, which are copper.

Thanks for all the good info, I looked around for quite a while and couldn't find the "M" pump info, now theres plenty to digest after the turkey. I started this inquiry because Im going to help a friend check the IP timing on his Euro and as John pointed out someday the seals will be needed on our own cars. Thanks again for the help.

I'll find out all the spics when I actually get my hands on them
