Injector Seal 300D 2.5 turbo 1992
The o-ring-like seal on one of my injectors is weaping an ever increasing amount of fuel.
Can anyone advise me as to how to replace this seal? It looks as if it should be simple. However, I'm not clear on how to loosen the injector from the pre-chamber. My concrete parking area would really appreciate any and all help. Thanks, Roscoe |
Remove the "spider" line (pipe from injection pump to injector) and use the 27mm socket that fits the injector. Remove the injector by turning in a counterclockwise direction. The prechamber nut will not back out when removing the injector. Installation is reverse of above but you will need to torque the injector to spec.
Make sure it is not the return line leaking - I have had these leak and it made it look like an injector leaking. |
Quite often, a return line leak can be mistaken as an injector seal leak. Make sure the return lines are tight and soft. If they are the originals, you may want to replace them along with the one with the end plug. "Der Dieseling Doktor" of MBCA's technical adviser recommends replacing these hoses every 8 - 10 years.
I just replaced on my 87 300TD last month due to a seep. |
