Crank shaft front?
 

Really embarrassing question, but in the FSM for adjusting valve clearances it mentions that the engine can be turned using the crankshaft front.

But then it gives a warning saying that you shouldn't use the fastening bolt at the camshaft sprocket.

Cool, but where is this bolt?


Is it this bolt directly in the behind of the large camshaft gear and in front of the metal AC pipe? That doesn't seem like the right bolt to me and I'd rather not pay the price for my ignorance.

Please pardon my lack of knowledge for the names of these parts. I would prefer to not use the power steering bolt as a means of turning the engine.

Find the pulley near the bottom of the engine that has four belts on it. Recessed in that pulley assembly is a bolt with a 27mm hex head. Use that bolt to rotate the crankshaft.

It is indeed on the lowest pulley - it is lower down than in your picture. If you kneel down at the front of the car and look under you'll see it. Like said previously, the nut is 27mm. You'll need a socket with a stubby extension to reach it whilst allowing you to attach a ratchet without fouling the radiator.

I found a 27mm deep impact that fits perfectly between the nut and my 1/2" ratchet
