Shocks 4 85300 SD ?

Hi, I have new tires and know the 85300 SD needs shocks. I have seen a few
listed as HD. I know what that means for my Suburban but any thoughts on replacements for this car. The rest of the suspension is in good shape so I really just want to restore the factory ride. I do occasionaly carry a 100 lbs +/-
in the trunk so would it be prudent to have HD on the rear and OEM on the front ?
Thoughts ?
Thanks

extra weight in the trunk is not going to be helped by the shocks. I'd get comforts, not HD's
new springs are the only thing going to help the rear if you overload and weaken the springs in the rear.

I have Bilstein HD's all the way around on my '83 300SD along with 16" Michelin Primacy MXV 4 tires on lightweight CLK rims. The car rides wonderfully on county roads and Interstate highways without any "over sway" on turns. Rides as well as any car I have ever been in, with five adults or by myself. Would strongly reccomend the HD's for all around ride comfort. Just my opinion.

Just put a new set of Bilstein comforts on my '81 300SD last weekend. The ride improvement was dramatic as it appeared the ones I removed were original equipment. I use the car to commute to work (usually by myself) and I think the ride is excellent. Also a pretty straightforward job on these cars. Took about 3 1/2 hours total, probably a little less if I left off the beer!
