'84 300D/T Electrical Gremlin..

Happy new year, dieselers..

Wondering if anybody has any advice:

My '84 300D started a new trick this morning (27 degrees, not driven in5 days) where every time I used the brake or turn signal, the tachometer would jump (rhythmically to the lights going on).. Seems like it would be an easy fix, but if someone's seen it boefore it could save a LOT of diagnostic time..

Thanks in advance!

My 220D does strange things like this when damp (which is after every rainfall!) if I'v not driven it for a while.

I assume this is current backfeed from bad grounds, etc.

I have noticed that the metal channels on the back of my circuitboards (instrument cluster) sometimes seperate with time from the board and may become grounded to the chassis via the other metal gauges. I had to cut these parts out and resolder in a wire jumper to bridge the damaged area. I guess it was just age and heat. This caused my fuel and temperature gauges to jump each time that the left turn signal was used. The briken channel was located under the oil gauge where the broken (seperated) channel was contacting the oil gauge which was grounded to the body. This may not be your problem, but it's worth looking into.
