Finally fixed! ACC problem had nothing to do with the ACC!
What ever happened to that thread on dumb crap that PO have done with these cars...
So I've been battling a "no ACC" problem for a few weeks now. Having an '85 with all of it's one-year-goodness, I've been pulling my hair out double checking every item under the sun from the alternator harness, OVP, fuses, relays, you name it. Everything came back to the fact that the F8 wasn't receiving power. Last week I had pulled the driver's side knee panel to check the wiring behind the fuse panel. As I was pulling myself out from a face-up position in the floor board, I happen to glance up at the ignition switch. "Hmm, should I see a black plug and not wires coming out of the back of the ignition switch? UH - YEAH. With the wire dutifully keeping the kids out of my hair, I was able to make time for the cluster and steering lock assembly to come out. Sure enough, when I pull the cluster, there's a red/yl wire sticking straight up from the back of the ignition. What does the red/yellow line from the switch feed? Fuse 8. Luckily, I had the pinouts from the FSM, a spare plug back and the near-new lock assembly with new switch from Betty. While I had the cluster out, I also found the oil pressure gauge to be leaking a little bit. Since the '85 has another relay or some other black box on the back of the gauge PCB, I had to swap circuit boards and gauge innards from Betty as well. Swapped in a clean rheostat and new bulbs. Now, from today's work, I have: - Heat & AC - Better gauge lights - no oily indicator lights - a completely rebuilt shifter. Yep, all 6 (SIX!) bushing replaced. The car is starting to feel new again! Including pics of the donor plug. Here's a shortcut for disassembling the plug without breaking any of the plastic clips. Cut off some ziptie end and slip into the snap catches (do they have another name?).

I have used thin strips of aluminum for the same job but I like the zip tie idea better. Thanks for sharing.
