I dont want you to think your way too far away from the problem. I dont have working glow plugs-its not real cold here and there is no rough engine wobble on startup,
and also you could-(I have)disconnected the rack position sensor lead with No noticable difference in engine running--If you have ripped out the egr and extra vaccum bs its rendered it useless anyway from my understanding . |
Ok, I just went out in the garage and looked over the throttle linkage, re-checked linkage lengths and settings and found that the idle adjustment screw is spring loaded.
Throttle linkage is lubed well! I believe that this maybe whey my idle varies from stop sign to stop sign, I don't have time right now, but I need to rethink how this throttle linkage is suppose to work! If anyone wants to throw there 2 cents in on this I would be happy to hear it! Thanks, Jim |
You know what I would love? I picture of the rack bolt dampener...even better...a picture of someone adjusting it.
I have NO idea where it is or how to adjust it. |
It's located on the lower back of the IP, just in front of the oil filter canister.
A 14mm lock nut and a 12mm bolt. A not so quick search came up with this: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/202262-turbo-rack-damper-bolt-adjustment.html |
Saw this thread and decided to fiddle with mine. Results are excellent but I would like to do it with the idle backed off to see if it can be any smoother.
When I went to loosen the locking nut, I found that it was hand loose. Evidently whoever worked on the motor before I transplanted it has messed with it. The rack bolt had worked its way out some so I went in about 5 or 6 turns then found a pleasant spot. I thought I had air getting into my fuel lines somewhere but was unable to locate it. Was the rack damper. |
