'74 220 hubcaps on '82 w123?

Can anyone tell me if 14" hubcaps from '74 220 (W114? W115?) will fit the 14" W123 steel wheels ('82 240D)?

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure your wheels are steel? Your 240D should have alloy wheels from the factory. I only mention it because there are different clips used for steel wheels and alloy wheels.

The alloy wheels mentioned look like the steel wheels. The earlier hubcaps for the steel wheels will fit, however the hubcaps clips for the alloy rims have plastic liners, probably to prevent wear and corrosion when the sharp edge of the steel clips contact the alloys. If you're worried about not having the plastic-lined clips to install the early hubcaps, try a couple layers of duct tape over the steel clips.

Happy Motoring, Mark
