Strange sound turning in E300D

Hi guys, I've been hearing a sound that I think is coming from my front end. I only hear it while making a left turn. At first(a week ago) it only was audible when making a sharp left turn, now I can hear it at 3/4ths rotation and 10-15mph. I hope it's not a spring perch. Sounded like something rubbing on the wheel, but nothing is touching. I'm going to bring it in this week to see, but I thought you might be able to help. Sorry for the bad video, but you can hear the sound as I pick-up speed. Didn't start noticing it till after I did a diesel purge, I'm sure it's coincidental, but I thought I might have left a tool in the engine compartment or something.
wheel is 3/4th a turn

You may need to turn up your speakers a lot. Also I can't hear it with the windows open.
Thanks
Samson

Sounds like a power steering pump either empty or low. What does the fluid look like? It would speed up withengine rpm's.

I'm guessing collapsed right engine mount and fan eating shroud.

Yep, I would agree with that! Torque and a bad engine mount would do that. Power brake it and try it in forward and then reverse to confirm.

I think its the left MM. They usually go first on a 606..........always replace both. Its pretty easy; takes less than 30 mins per side the second time you do it

it their a way to check the mounts before replacing them? Motor does not appear to move on start up, other than that I don't know anythings else about give-aways on bad MM

Just an idea but have you checked to see if the fan is hitting the underside of the top radiator hose? It sounds a little like the fan hitting something and I've found two hoses rubbed by the fan - one in my car and the other in a wreck I bought for the engine so it happens. If you find a cut in the the bottom of the hose then it's probably time for two new mounts...and a hose.

there is a spec for motor mount height.
a search should confirm it, but you could compare the left height to the right height to see if one is shorter.

I would like to see someone accomplish power braking an E300D.

Talking

Piece of cake, just turn off the ESP, hold the brake, hit the accelerator once (it will refuse to accelerate) then hit it again. With the chip in there the car will light up the back wheels ...not that I would ever do anything so childish (unless perhaps the kid was doing it in his car while sitting in front of me at the light....).

MM's are 17mm new and 13mm collapsed when measured from top most rubber rim to top of mount. Use a feeler gauge such as your 10 or 11mm socket whose OD fits inside the 13mm ID.

Power braking does not entail lighting up the rear wheels. Brake applied with slight accelerator applied is sufficient to torque the engine mounts to get it to simulate the concern.
