Blinking light on dash (brakes)

The brake warning light on my 81 300D has started randomly blinking in the last few days. Two things to be aware of here- I changed my front shocks a week or two ago, and noticed one of the brake sensor lines was broken in half. Also, I just found out my vac pump check valve was broken, so I pulled it out, removed it's guts and put it back in. Waiting on a new one. I'm hoping that the sensor wire is what's causing the problem, but it's starting to seem like it will blind 4 or 5 times and then stop for a few seconds, then start again, where at first it was like it was random as if the sensor line was shorting. Even now, when I'm going down the highway, or up a hill, the light either fades or goes out completely. Anybody have any experience with this?
It's in the teens with a bad wind here, so I'd like to know what's what before I go out there and tear into it. Thanks, guys.

Sounds like the bad sensor wire is the problem.
If it grounds (on anything) your warning light will come on.
Tape up the end if you are getting to it later.

There are two brake warning lights on the instrument panel.

The Brake light that is red will illuminate when the float sensors in the reservoir get too low or you engage the parking brake.

The light with a circle and little dashes around it is the brake pad wear light.

Which one of these is illuminating? The pad light will turn on when the pads get low and cause a ground. This is your sign to replace your brake pads before you start getting that wonderful metal on metal sound. It is possible for the wire to go bad too. Simple .95 cent part

The parking brake light used to blink on my wagon every once in a while. It usually did it when the moisture in the air was fairly high, ie rainy or recently rainy. Never figured out what was making it do it, mostly cause I never spent the time looking for it.

The brake pad wear sensors simple complete the ground when the outer layer gets worn off on the sensor. This lights up the light. A worn wire will cause blinking only if the exposed wire contacts a grounded part.

Yeah, same for me. When I didn't tuck the sensor wires down enough, they rubbed the inside of the wheel, then open up and grounded out to the wheel.

I now keep about 4-6 of the pad sensor wires around. Cheap part to keep in stock at the house.
