1995 E300D Oil Change Video
I just posted a video to YouTube. It's a simple oil change job, but I could have used it when I first got this car. Hope it's useful to someone.

Nice of you to take the time to make that.

Its much easier to fill the engine from the oil filter housing, before you insert the new filter.

Oops. I didn't forget to show it; I forgot to do it. The filter didn't have its original box for some reason. I'll reshoot to show that.
I'd like to make more videos, any suggestions on how much I should assume the viewer already knows? As an example, should I have shown me driving the car onto the ramps and popping the hood and removing the belly pans?

You should certainly show the vehicle being made safe, there's always some bright spark who'll climb underneath with the whole 1.7 tonnes balanced on a scissor jack.
Also, to get to the pan you have to remove the plastic tray, so you need to mention that. You could also mention that you can suck the oil out from the top, using a vacuum pump. |

The oil removal method is very much a matter of choice. After many decades of "get out and get under" I have been converted to an oil sucker and find that I much prefer it. By actual checking, I have confirmed that it removes as much or more oil than removing the drain plug. It's a lot less work and potentially safer as the Parrot has pointed out.
The only downside of oil sucking is that it eliminates the opportunity of looking over the underside of the car for developing problems - oil leaks, suspension, front brakes, etc. I always checked for problems while I was down there; now I have to "make a special trip" and it usually doesn't get done. The belly pans only make it worse - I can see why some people are tempted to leave them off. Jeremy

Nice video. My 95 e300d takes 7.4 quarts. I also always replace the big o-ring under filter cover. I have a low profile oil container so I can change the oil without ramps.
