Custom Shifter Knob

As some of you know I just got my car back on the road after my 4 speed swap. well I got my custom shifter installed, and finally got some pics to share. sorry they are cell phone cam pics. I keep forgetting to take the pictures, and today i was sitting in my car waiting for someone and snapped some pics.

About 4 years ago I built this shifter for my Toyota. its some 1/2 steel with colt 45 grips on ether side.

So in keeping with a theme I thought what better for the Mercedes then a pair of Mauser broom-handle grips. or as I told my sisters Star Wars loving boyfriend, the blaster of Han Solo. :D:D

Legit! I have been trying to think what I want to do about mine. My buddy said he has a knob from an Eaton 10 speed hes gunna give me. Might be too big though.

The eaton knob would be awesome. I googled it and found this picture.

If you could get a devoiced over drive unit, like a gear-vendors unit, the shift pattern would almost be spot on LOL

An over drive unit would be soooooooooo sweet!

It'll fit, just a bit of modification. Just take a look @ what Forced Induction did.

I bought a MB Zebrano knob and cut it very short and reinstalled the insert. looks like a short shifter now. I also got a leather shift boot from a beemer and kept the auto edge trim. looks pretty good, that MB hideous rubber shifter boot looks like it belongs on a toyota work truck.

LOL, this may be the greatest custom stick shift handle series ive ever seen!
Only one problem, that toyota should have had an Imperial Army Nambu Pistol grip instead of a 45! :D:D

I made an adapter a few years ago for myself, but these pistol grip sticks put it to shame! It was basically a short aluminum shaft that duplicated the lower portion of the stock handle so I could use the stock boot (which I like), but intead have a way to screw whatever head on there I wanted. I was using a polished aluminum empi head.

I agree!!! I used 45 grips because my friends dad gave them to me after we talked about my idea to make a pistol grip shifter. he said "why make it all from scratch here are some grips off a real pistol"

now you've got me thinking....

I want to get a shifter for my dads F350 and make it a shifter with 45 grips for the transmission and S&W K frame grips for the transfercase.
